XDAS X-ray data acquisition system

The XDAS system provides a highly flexible means of creating an array of linear X-ray sensors.

The building block of the system are the XDAS-DH detector head board and the XDAS-SP signal processing board. A detector head board has 128 channels and a signal processing board drives up to 20 detector head boards. On-board processing includes a multiple sampling facility to provide high dynamic range. Design is robust, with digital control signals implemented in a programmable gate array using fused link technology for radiation hardness. XDAS boards can be daisy-chained as a single system to provide an array of up to 63 boards.

Boards are linked together and to a central processor by a high speed data bus. Connection to the processor is made by a cable set and data converter, which also carries control signals from the PC serial port. Alternative cable sets are provided for data I/O and frame grabber cards.

Software is provided to demonstrate system performance. A software development kit is available for the development of user applications.
