XDAS-HE
NEW Class Leading X-ray Detectors for Cargo Inspection
Today’s cargo inspection systems must deliver more than ever before:
- Increase throughput without sacrificing image quality.
- Improve material discrimination to distinguish between dense materials and identify concealed objects with greater confidence.
- Enhance threat and contraband detection through dense cargo and deliberate shielding.
- Deliver higher image resolution to reveal fine detail and support both operators and automated detection algorithms.
Conventional high-energy cargo inspection systems rely on LINAC X-ray sources that generate extremely short radiation pulses. However, many conventional detector architectures integrate the signal for far longer than the useful X-ray pulse itself, capturing unwanted scintillator afterglow and electronic noise alongside the desired signal.
The result is reduced image contrast, lower signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and diminished detection confidence—particularly when inspecting dense cargo or identifying threats concealed behind heavy shielding.
XDAS-HE changes this.
XDAS-HE is a high-resolution detector platform specifically developed for demanding high-energy cargo inspection applications.
Its high-speed, externally triggered architecture supports continuous acquisition with integration periods as short as 20 μs, enabling high-speed multi-slice time delayed integration (TDI).
By matching the detector integration period more closely to the short output pulse of modern LINAC sources, XDAS-HE captures useful signal while reducing the contribution of scintillator afterglow and electronic noise.
The architecture enables repeated sampling of the same material as it passes through the inspection system. With up to eight TDI slices, software correction of scintillator afterglow becomes significantly more effective, even in the highest-speed vehicle and cargo inspection applications.
